A little bit About ME
Diego Barrientos was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and raised in California's San Joaquin Valley. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was deployed to the Iraq War. Upon returning, Diego pursued his life-long passion for music, playing drums in bands such as Vogue in the Movement and The New Post before transitioning to visual arts.
Barrientos (b. 1987, Guatemala City, Guatemala) received his MFA in fine art from the California Institute of the Arts in 2019 and a BA in animation from California State University, Northridge in 2016. Barrientos has exhibited work at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA (2018), Other Places Art Fair, San Pedro, CA (2019), Annenberg Community Beach House, Santa Monica, CA (2019), New Wright Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2019), and Nick Kochornswasdi Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2019). He currently lives and works in Los angeles as a painter, fiction writer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
